Mobile navigation bar

Customize the mobile navigation bar to enhance the experience for users on their smartphones.

🧑🏻‍💻 For all users| ✅ Standard feature

The mobile navigation bar is a global navigation component that appears at the bottom of the screen for all mobile users (excluding tablets). It is always present as users navigate through the app, except on certain pages where a focused view is required (e.g. creating a community post).

This feature is available by default. Administrators can customize which icons appear and how they are arranged.

Available icons

The navigation bar supports both required icons and optional icons.

Required icons

These must appear in the navigation bar.

  • 🏠 Home (always fixed in the leftmost slot)

  • 👥 People Directory

  • 🏀 Communities (if optional feature is enabled)

Optional icons

These icons can be added at any position in the bar:

  • 🧭 Company Compass (if published)

  • ❤️ Personal Space (if enabled)

  • 💼 My Work

  • 📚 My Learning (feature not released yet)

Note: Adding icons to the mobile navigation bar won’t take them out of the profile menu. They’ll still be available in both places on mobile.

Your default navigation bar

By default, the navigation bar starts with a set of icons that can be rearranged as needed:

  1. Home

  2. People Directory

  3. Communities (if enabled)

  4. Compass (if published)

If your company does not use Communities or Compass, the default bar will only show Home and People Directory. You can easily add more icons to personalize the experience and make the most of the navigation bar.

Adding and ordering features

The navigation bar supports up to 5 main slots. If more than 5 icons are added, the 5th slot automatically becomes a “More” menu, giving access to the additional icons.

Here's how admins can customize the navigation bar:

  1. Go to 'Company Settings' > 'Mobile navigation' tab

  2. Add features by selecting them from the list.

  3. Reorder the icons as needed.

  4. Preview the navigation bar.

  5. Save and changes go live for all users.

Design

The navigation bar inherits certain design values to ensure consistency across the app. These style options are defined in the 'Company Settings' area > 'Design' tab:

  • Icons use the interaction color

  • Active icon highlight uses the corner rounding value
  • Bar uses the card style: shadowed or bordered
